Cinnamon Cinnamomum Verum is the inner bark of the true cinnamon tree as opposed to the Cassia tree, which is also referred to as cinnamon. It is used as a culinary flavouring spice. Cinnamon has strong anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, improves sensitivity to insulin, helps lower blood sugar levels, and is recommended by Ayurveda to reduce the risk of heart ailments. It is sustainably harvested from secondary branches to minimize damage to the trees that regenerate the following year.
